How to Start a Scientific Research at the School

COSU Served as a resource to motivate research culture at school level for the teachers and students in Batticaloa on 09-12-2024. This was organized on the request of the 

Bt/Vivekananda Girls' College - Kallady. This was carried out under the COSU activity for motivating teachers and students towards effective teaching with research. 

The resource person was Prof. M. Sithambaresan, Department of Chemistry, Faculty of Science, EUSL.

Supporting the professional growth of teachers

Practicals for A/L students are not conducted in many Schools. This was studied and found that there are three major obstacles which retard the progress of the eastern students to acquire practical knowledge. In this context, 

as the first step, COSU has taken steps to provide practical knowledge in Physics, Chemistry, and Biology to the A/L teachers of Batticaloa region through a series of workshops supporting their professional growth.

Seminar on "The importance of education and proper learning methods"

A seminar was done by Dr. M. Sithambaresan at Central College, Chenkalady on “the importance of education and proper learning methods” to A/L science students (2018 batch) of the school. Also, a discussion was done with the students on “common errors made by the students in A/L chemistry examinations” to enhance their performance in chemistry examinations.

A seminar was done by Dr. M. Sithambaresan at Paddiruppu National School, Kaluvanchikudy on “the importance of education and proper learning methods” to the new A/L students of the school, parents and teachers to promote learning of students. This is to make the parents and teachers aware of the students’ education and support them on proper learning.

Workshop on "The real nature of human mind and attitude development" - 02nd April, 2018

A workshop was done by Dr. M. Sithambaresan at Carmel Fatima College, Kalmunai on “The real nature of human mind and attitude development” for all the A/L students of all streams and a lecture on “poor performance of A/L students in Chemistry examinations” for the science A/L students of the school. This is to provide better understanding of life and education with positive attitude and philanthropic interest.
