President’s Awards for Scientific Research 2023

The General Relativity Research Group [Research Groups | Eastern University Sri Lanka (esn.ac.lk)] received President's Awards for Scientific Research-2023 (i.e. for the years 2019 & 2020 publications) at a ceremony organized by the National Research Council on 21st November, 2023 at the Sirimavo Bandaranaike Memorial Exposition Centre, Bandaranaike Memorial International Conference Hall, Colombo 07.

 

The Awards were given for the best 100 papers published in prestigious journals in each year (2019 and 2020) where a significant contribution had been made by scientists working in Sri Lanka. The  General Relativity Research Group received awards for three outstanding publications given below, which also includes a publication emanating from Ms. Nasheeha’s PhD thesis:

 

1.  Ragel, F.C., Thirukkanesh, S. General relativistic model for mixed fluid sphere with equation of state. Eur. Phys. J. C 79, 306 (2019)

2.  Thirukkanesh, S., Kaisavelu, A. & Govender, M. A comparative study of the linear and colour-flavour-locked equation of states for compact objects. Eur. Phys. J. C 80, 214 (2020).

3. Nasheeha, R.N., Thirukkanesh, S. & Ragel, F.C. Anisotropic generalization of isotropic models via hypergeometric equation. Eur. Phys. J. C 80, 6 (2020).

It is noted that this is the first PhD student registered at EUSL to receive a President’s Award.

 

Professor Thirukkanesh has won the President's Awards TEN times which is the highest among the EUSL academics and Professor Ragel has won the award SEVEN times.
