Supporting the professional growth of teachers

Practicals for A/L students are not conducted in many Schools. This was studied and found that there are three major obstacles which retard the progress of the eastern students to acquire practical knowledge. In this context, 

as the first step, COSU has taken steps to provide practical knowledge in Physics, Chemistry, and Biology to the A/L teachers of Batticaloa region through a series of workshops supporting their professional growth. 

Second step is to provide knowledge to the laboratory assistants in schools to maintain chemicals and equipment in the laboratory and to assist the teachers to demonstrate practicals in schools. 

The third step is to expanding and sustaining effective science education programme in schools by upgrading the facilities in the laboratories in the schools. 

All these steps will be carried out with the support of EUSL “Alum” 81/82 pioneer batch.

18th October 2019

The first workshop was done at the Physics laboratory, Department of Physics, EUSL. This was carried out by the staff of the Department of Physics.

31st October 2019 and 1st November 2019

The second workshop (two-day workshop) was done at the Chemistry laboratory, Department of Chemistry, EUSL. This was carried out by the staff of the Department of Chemistry.
